GEDEM is set apart from the many GEDCOM to HTML conversion utilities available today by these features:

• One file is all you need place on your web site or to send to others for them to be able to view the Family Tree data you wish them to see.   See the Download page to see an example executable file.   This is very easy to use for all who want to view your data.   You can create these files with the free zip archiving utility Powerarc, which you can download from the Download page.
  
  
• You may change the template file for the created individual web pages.   This gives the generated pages a look and feel to suit you, and not what somebody else may think is best.
  
  
• You may include as many GEDCOM data files in your distributed zip or exe file as you require. With a simple instruction, users can select the one they require to create the family tree data web site from.

Overview

GEDEM produces a website from the GEDCOM data supplied, with a page for each individual person listed.  It is very compact, and can be packaged in a ZIP file or a SFX file with the GEDCOM data.  A zip file of 90 kb will produce a local web site of some 2 mb.

GEDEM is primarily designed to provide a distribution method for family tree data, displayed in a web environment, thus needing no training for users.  Of course, these pages could be placed on the web, allowing anybody to access them.  For an example, 2 mb is a vast amount of data to retrieve form the Internet, meaning most casual users will never see the full extent of relevant data.  The time to download a 90 kb file and run the setup routine in it is minimal, meaning the user has access to the full range of available family tree data on his/her own computer.

Specifics

1.    GEDEM will create a web site on your computer in the location detailed.  It will be easily accessed via a shortcut placed on the desktop on completion.

2.    Once the process is Started, you will be prompted for the Primary Individual.  This is the person who will be displayed first each time the web is opened. It will default the first person in the GEDCOM data file, but you may select any other individual.
